(A) Statement 1 by itself determines the eldest child.

Given that Som is younger to Riaz and Ansu is the youngest, then the two possibilities is that Shiv or Riaz is the eldest.
Since the 1st statement tells that Shiv is elder than Riaz it is understood that Shiv is the eldest of the four.
