All the above answers show a sql query to execute to create a database. unlike the above procedures, if you want to do it in an easy way, you can use mySQL workbench which provides and interface to create database and then create tables in it.
to create a database you need to click on the create schema button which lies in the row which is just below the menu bar. and then by double clicking and selecting the schema, you can click on create table button which is in the same row as create schema button and a window will appear to select the primary key data types and features for every column in a table. This is better and easier way to create a table.

The basic syntax of the CREATE TABLE statement is as follows −
CREATE TABLE table_name(
   column1 datatype,
   column2 datatype,
   column3 datatype,
   .....
   columnN datatype,
   PRIMARY KEY( one or more columns )
);
CREATE TABLE is the keyword telling the database system what you want to do. In this case, you want to create a new table. The unique name or identifier for the table follows the CREATE TABLE statement.
Then in brackets comes the list defining each column in the table and what sort of data type it is. The syntax becomes clearer with the following example.
A copy of an existing table can be created using a combination of the CREATE TABLE statement and the SELECT statement.
