Usually, a form is submitted through the submit button which is present in HTML.
But in some cases, you need to explicitly submit the form using JavaScript. In this case, the form is accessed using by its name or id, or if there's only one form then it can be submitted through tag name too. In JavaScript, you can submit the form by accessing it and calling submit function.
Let me give you an example :-
<form name="formOne">
<input type='text' name='searchQuery' />
<a href="javascript: submission()">Search</a>
</form>
<script type="text/javascript">
function submitform()
{
  document.formOne.submit();
// Another method to call the form is
//document.form("formOne").submit();
}
</script>

Generally, a form is submitted when the user presses a submit button. However, sometimes, you may need to submit the form programmatically using JavaScript.JavaScript provides the form object that contains the submit() method. Use the 'id' of the form to get the form object.
