  • username and email address

    More about the answer:

    Git wants every commit associated with a username and an email address. This enables all source code contributors in a distributed environment to easily identify and communicate with co-contributors.

    You can set up the and properties with the git config command, as demonstrated below:

    /c/ git quiz (tutorial)
    $ git config --local "Git quiz taker"
     /c/ git quiz (tutorial)
    $ git config --local ""

    If the and address properties are not explicitly set, Git will use the IP address of the local machine and the OS' logon credentials in order to provide the required information to a commit. It will also generate a fairly verbose warning message about configuring these properties properly.
