Use pymysql. It does all of what MySQLDb does, but it was implemented purely in Python with NO External Dependencies. This makes the installation process on all operating systems consistent and easy. pymysql is a drop in replacement for MySQLDb and IMHO there is no reason to ever use MySQLDb for anything... EVER! 

Installation

pip install pymysql

How to connect MySQL database in Python
Install MySQL connector module. Use the pip command to install MySQL connector Python. 
Import MySQL connector module. 
Use the connect() method. 
Use the cursor() method. 
Use the execute() method. 
Extract result using fetchall() .
Close cursor and connection objects.
