Mass of dry soil, Md = 88gm
Volume of dry soil Vd =  50cc ,
Density of water pw = 1gm/cc
Specific gravity of soil solids, G = 2.71
To find : Shrinkage limit of soil, ws
Method 1 :
Shrinkage limit , ws = 1/Gm - 1/G = 1/(pd/pw) - 1/G = 50*1/88 - 1/2.71 = 0.1992 * 100 %
=>   ws = 19.92%
Hence , the shrinkage limit is 19.92% .
