Total Load = Live load + Dead Load = 12 tons + 18 tons =30 tons

Factor of safety = 1.5

So total considerable load for designing of column footing = 30 tons x 1.5 = 45 tons

Load bearing capacity of soil = 10 tons/ sqm

So area required for footing = (45 tons)/ (10 tons/ sqm) = 4.5 sqm
