In Java exceptions under Error and RuntimeException classes are unchecked exceptions, everything else under throwable ischecked. Consider the following Java program. It compiles fine, but it throws ArithmeticException when run. The compiler allows it to compile, because ArithmeticException is an unchecked exception.
