: (i) Actual length of chain (L) = 30 m.
 chain length after measuring distances of 3000 m
 measured distance = 3000 m
Incorrect length of chain (L)=3 0+(0+0.05)/2=30.025 m
True distance = measured distance X (L/L)
3000 * (30.025 / 30.00) = 3002.5 m.
 ii) Remaining measured distance = 5400-3000
 = 2000 m
Incorrect length of chain (L)= 30+(0.05+0.10)/2=30.075 m
 True distance = measured distance X (L/L)=2000X(30.075/30)=2005 m
 Total transmittance = 3002.5+2005
 = 50007.5 m
